What should I expect from a 30-minute appointment?

You'll complete a health questionnaire before you arrive, so the appointment focuses on what matters most to you. During the consultation, you'll discuss your health concerns with Dr Hiscutt PhD. You'll leave with a personalised health action plan, with specific practical steps tailored to your situation, and access to a relevant guide from The Metabolic Thread series.

What health concerns does the clinic address?

The clinic focuses on the health issues that matter most to you right now. Common areas include perimenopause and menopause symptoms, metabolic health, blood sugar regulation, gut health, fatigue, sleep difficulties, hormonal balance, and weight management. It is not suitable for acute or emergency concerns. For those, please contact your GP.

What is metabolic health?

Metabolic health refers to how well your body regulates energy, blood sugar, insulin, inflammation, and fat storage. When it works well, it shows up as stable energy, clear thinking, quality sleep, and healthy body composition. It is closely connected to hormonal health, particularly during perimenopause and menopause.

What is the link between menopause and metabolic health?

Oestrogen plays a central role in insulin sensitivity, fat distribution, and inflammation. As oestrogen levels fall during perimenopause, metabolic function often shifts. This can show up as fatigue, brain fog, disrupted sleep, and changes in body composition. Addressing metabolic health through nutrition, movement, sleep, and other lifestyle factors can improve these symptoms.

What is a Registered Dietitian?

A Registered Dietitian is a regulated healthcare professional in the UK, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The title is legally protected. Dietitians are qualified to diagnose and treat nutritional conditions, and their practice is evidence-based. Dr Rebecca Hiscutt PhD is a Registered Dietitian with over 25 years of clinical experience, including NHS work in metabolic health.

What is The Metabolic Thread?

The Metabolic Thread is a series of research-led guides to metabolic health by Dr Rebecca Hiscutt PhD, published at themetabolicthread.co.uk. The first guide covers the foundations of metabolic health, including how blood sugar, insulin, sleep, movement, and stress interact, with a self-assessment and a practical first-week action plan.
